Martine De Biasi – filmmaker and cultural worker

Martine De Biasi is a documentary filmmaker, artist and cultural worker with many years of experience in film, education and cultural project development.
She grew up in South Tyrol and works internationally at the intersection of film, art and social themes.

After training at ZeLIG — School for Documentary, Television and New Media (graduating in 2004), she worked for twenty years as a freelance television editor. In 2014 she studied chemistry and biology for teaching at the University of Innsbruck, until in 2019 the pull of film became too strong and, after ten years of work, she completed the film Becoming me (2019, Helios Filmproduktion). The film won several awards and opened up public discussion of trans identity in South Tyrol.

Martine De Biasi develops artistic projects that engage with social questions, identity, cultures of remembrance and social change. Alongside her work as a director and editor, she creates exhibitions, participatory cultural projects and educational formats.

A central strand of her work is the link between artistic practice and public dialogue. In her projects she often works with interviews, oral history and collaborative methods, making personal stories visible and opening new perspectives on social themes.

Together with her colleagues she founded the social cooperative EKLEKTIKA, through which she develops and delivers artistic, cultural and social projects.

At EKLEKTIKA, Martine De Biasi works particularly on projects that foster cultural participation, diversity and public dialogue — exhibitions, workshops and educational offerings on themes such as diversity, queerness, remembrance and social change.

With projects such as Always here she creates spaces where personal stories are heard and marginalised perspectives become visible. Through artistic formats, conversations and educational offerings, a public space emerges for exchange, reflection and shared learning.
